Terms and Conditions
Revision 2026-11-03 · Effective 2026-11-03
Operator and scope
Track Atlas is a brand operated by Alejandro Blanco, Calle Victoria Kent, 1. San Juan de Aznalfarache, Spain. Contact [email protected] for service questions and [email protected] for personal-data requests. These terms govern the website and its account, track, map, photo, list, comment and voting features. The Privacy Policy explains personal-data processing.
Adult accounts and security
Accounts are for people aged 18 or older. Provide accurate registration information, keep it current, protect your password and account links, and tell us if you suspect unauthorized access. Do not impersonate another person or share credentials to evade restrictions. Email confirmation is required for uploads, comments and votes. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account.
Tracks, visibility and metadata
New tracks are private by default. Private tracks and their discussion are accessible to their owner and administrators acting through administration. Public tracks, their recorded path, measurements, photo display versions, captions, discussion and your displayed identity/avatar can be seen by others while your account is active. Lists are private and do not grant access to private tracks. Administrators can access private account data, lists, tracks and file originals to operate, support and moderate the service.
GPX originals are stored unchanged. They may contain timestamps, waypoints, names or location metadata beyond the path displayed on the map. Review your files before uploading or making a track public; avoid exposing homes, sensitive locations or other people’s information. Photo and avatar originals may also retain metadata; photo originals are restricted to their owner and administrators. Public display versions do not make originals public.
Ownership and operating permission
You retain ownership of your uploads, descriptions, photos, comments and replies. Upload only material you own or are entitled to share, with any necessary permissions from people depicted or identified. You grant Track Atlas a non-exclusive permission to store, copy, validate, derive map geometry and image versions, and display and deliver that material as necessary to provide and administer the service according to its visibility. This does not transfer ownership or give us an unrelated advertising license.
Making a track public allows other users to view it and download its GPX for personal use. It does not automatically authorize commercial exploitation, redistribution or republication of the track or its photos: obtain the rights holder’s permission where required. Separate map-provider and third-party licenses still apply. Making content private or deleting it stops future service access subject to necessary cleanup and legal retention. Downloaded copies cannot be recalled; recipients may already hold copies outside our control.
Content and fair use
Do not upload unlawful, infringing, discriminatory, threatening, harassing, deceptive or privacy-invasive material, malware or spam. Do not expose another person’s confidential or sensitive information, encourage unlawful access, manipulate votes, bypass access controls, overload the service or scrape private data. Comments and votes must concern the track respectfully; the owner may leave one reply to a comment. Report problematic content to [email protected] with enough detail to locate it. We may investigate, restrict access, moderate or remove content, or deactivate accounts for abuse, security or legal reasons. Contact us to ask for review of a decision.
Outdoor safety and access
Tracks are user contributions, not verified navigation or professional safety advice. Maps, difficulty, distances, elevation and speed can be incomplete, inaccurate or outdated. A displayed path does not establish public access, landowner permission, suitability for an activity, trail condition or compliance with environmental and traffic rules. Popularity is not a safety assessment. Check current conditions, weather, closures, local rules, equipment and your capabilities independently; obtain permissions and respect people, wildlife and property. Do not rely on the website for emergencies or uninterrupted navigation.
External maps and GPX Studio
Map backgrounds are supplied by OpenFreeMap (OpenStreetMap data), OpenTopoMap and, when configured and selected, Mapbox Satellite. Their availability and terms apply to their services. Choosing Edit in GPX Studio opens an external editor and lets it fetch a copy of the unchanged GPX through a temporary link, including a private track you can access. Review its full contents before choosing this action. Edits in that service are not saved back to Track Atlas. The Privacy Policy explains these external requests.
Deactivation, deletion and service availability
Deactivation blocks account use and hides its tracks but retains data and reserves the email address. It is not erasure. To request account erasure, write to [email protected] from your registered email where possible. Staff verify the request and arrange removal of account data and stored uploads, subject to applicable legal obligations. Cleanup may require retries; do not assume everything is physically erased when access first stops. Delivered messages and copies downloaded by others cannot be withdrawn by us. There is no automatic self-service erasure or guaranteed immediate completion.
You can delete your own tracks through the service. Track deletion also removes their photos, votes and discussion, including other users’ contributions to that discussion. We may change or suspend features for maintenance, security or operational reasons. We aim to provide a reliable service but cannot guarantee availability or the accuracy of contributions. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer protections.
Revisions and applicable law
Each published revision has a permanent identifier and remains available in English and Spanish through its version link. Material changes to the terms require renewed acceptance; typo-only corrections do not. Privacy changes are separately acknowledged and acknowledgment is not consent to optional processing. These terms are governed by Spanish law, preserving mandatory consumer rights and any competent courts available under applicable law. Spanish is the reference text if translations differ. Contact [email protected] to raise a dispute or ask about these terms.
